Job Overview/Summary
We're looking for an experienced Chef with a minimum of 2-3 years experience in restaurants in London or the Southeast. The ideal candidate should be a talented chef who can manage a section in a busy kitchen and be comfortable cooking to a high standard. We'll take care of the rest and train you under our team of eight to turn you into a Development Chef 'Gladiator' within a year or two.
This is a 40 hour week contract, with no weekend work!
Our kitchen is based in Southfleet (DA13)
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting in projects and end-to-end and learning from our fantastic team
- Being very tech savvy with great formatting and presentation skills. The ability to research and present insights to relevant briefs.
- Commercially astute, understanding cost engineering, menu development to a target cost, and analytical approach to recipe writing.
- Sourcing and finding ingredients and suppliers to a brief. Being confident in picking up the phone and liaising with suppliers to secure the best price and specs for the project
- Menu and recipe development in line with internal briefs and guidelines
- A great understanding of nutrition and developing dishes with our state-of-the-art recipe system to strict nutritional criteria.
- Producing training materials and specifications and the appropriate setting up of training plans to launch a project.
- Genuine ability to cook a diverse genre of cuisines to a high standard.
- Day to day upkeep of our development kitchen and making sure everything is stocked up and looking impeccable.
About You
- 2-3 years minimum of relevant experience in a professional kitchen environment
- A minimum of CDP/Senior CDP level and able to manage most sections in the kitchen independently
- Serious computer skills – We use many different software and online systems, so being able to learn these and catch up fast will be crucial for your role.
- Level 2 Award in Food Hygiene
- Eager to learn and get involved in a supportive environment where everyone gets the best of each other.
Desirable
- A car. Or at least access to a suitable transport system to allow you to get to work each day.
- Culinary art and food science background.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
