Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and adaptable Relief Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work varied shifts, covering sickness and holiday absences for our permanent kitchen staff. As a Relief Sous Chef, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly, maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and service during times of absence.
This is an excellent opportunity for a chef seeking flexible working hours and days, with the ability to step into different kitchens and work alongside talented teams.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Production Managers and Supervisors in executing daily meal production schedules.
- Oversee the preparation and cooking of our meals, ensuring consistency and adherence to recipes.
- Work in collaboration with the Executive Chef and Kitchen Managers to maintain a positive and productive kitchen environment.
- Be prepared to cover a variety of shifts based on the needs of the business, including evenings. Notice will be given ahead of time for cover.
- Adapt quickly to different kitchen settings and be flexible with working hours to ensure coverage for sickness and holidays.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff when neccessary, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Ensure all food production meets health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen.
- Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure the highest standards of taste, presentation, and nutritional value.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef from any catering background.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Schedule Examples:
Sunday-Thursday (night) 21:00-07:00
Monday-Friday (day) 06:00-16:00
Monday-Friday (afternoon/evening) 15:00-00:00
*Plenty of notice will be given should a schedule change arise - this is based on our current permanent staff booked absences.
Salary - £14.40 per hour with room for quick progression for the right candidate.
